VEXXHOST was pleased to be invited to an ALL IN cocktail reception hosted at Scale AI's offices in Montréal on October 29, 2026, in connection with the Canada–European Union Summit.
The reception brought together members of Canada's AI and technology community at a significant moment for Canada–Europe relations, with artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and technological sovereignty gaining increasing attention on both sides of the Atlantic.
As an invited attendee, VEXXHOST had the opportunity to hear from the Honourable Evan Solomon, Canada's Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, and Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy.
The presence of both officials made the evening particularly meaningful, highlighting the growing importance of engagement between policymakers and the technology community as Canada and Europe explore new opportunities for cooperation.
For Montréal's technology ecosystem, the reception also provided an opportunity to connect with others working in an industry where international collaboration, access to computing resources, and digital infrastructure are becoming increasingly important.

The ALL IN reception was held in connection with the official Canada–EU Summit, which took place in Montréal on October 29–30, 2026. At the summit, Canadian and European leaders announced several initiatives aimed at deepening their economic, technological, and strategic relationship.
A key development was the launch of the Canada–EU Alliance for the Future, a framework for strengthening cooperation across areas including digital technologies, research, innovation, and economic security.
The joint statement identifies trusted and sovereign cloud and computing infrastructure, data, AI models, and software among the areas for future collaboration, reflecting the growing importance of resilient digital infrastructure.
Another significant announcement was Canada's participation in the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). By becoming its 39th participating state, Canada opens new opportunities for researchers, universities, and businesses to collaborate with European partners and access advanced computing resources supporting supercomputing, AI, and quantum technologies.
Together, these developments represent important steps toward closer cooperation between Canadian and European technology ecosystems.
As artificial intelligence continues to advance, access to reliable computing infrastructure, technical expertise, and research resources is becoming increasingly important.
International partnerships can help address these needs by connecting research institutions, technology providers, and businesses across borders, creating opportunities to share knowledge and accelerate innovation.
Canada–EU cooperation also brings renewed attention to technological sovereignty. For the industry, sovereignty is not simply about where technology is developed or where data is stored. It also involves having meaningful control over infrastructure, reducing critical dependencies, and building resilient digital ecosystems.
Importantly, greater technological independence does not have to mean isolation. Collaboration between trusted partners can strengthen capabilities while supporting the flexibility and control organizations need.
The long-term value of these initiatives will depend on how they translate into practical opportunities, from access to advanced computing resources to joint research and stronger connections between technology communities.
VEXXHOST thanks ALL IN for the invitation and the opportunity to attend the reception and hear from Minister Solomon and Executive Vice-President Virkkunen.
It was encouraging to see these conversations taking place in Montréal at such an important moment for Canada–EU technology cooperation.
We look forward to seeing Canada's AI ecosystem continue to grow through innovation, knowledge sharing, and stronger international partnerships.
